Gunwoo Shin

Gunwoo Shin is a Korean artist based in Seoul. Shin's work portrays mental landscapes of the crossroad between the conscious and the unconscious, akin to the condition of memories and dreams. Based on specific incidents and situations in reality his work primarily relies on thoughts and feelings that occur as he tries to awaken senses dulled by the monotony of mundane routine. Shin moves freely around the lines of reality and the world of the surreal, also giving diverse artistic imaginations to realistic subject matter. Since his first solo exhibition at Kwanhoon Gallery in Seoul in 2006, his subsequent solo exhibitions include All Saints, Gallery Koo, Seoul (2015), Watch the Butterfly Falling, Shin Gallery, New York (2014), BLITZ, Gallery 2, Seoul (2013), Kaleidoscope, Gallery Hyundai Window Projects, Seoul (2011).
