My practice is primarily concerned with man’s relationship to nature and the tension between the man-made and natural world. I'm fascinated with the domestication of nature, with classifying mechanisms and cataloging – with material evidence of the human instinct to control the environment and to subdue the “wild”.

These interests as an artist have frequently drawn me to historical archives and museology. Between 2008 and 2014 I created four single-channel video works that depict my physical intervention in various museum displays. In Silent Among Us (2008) I released 100 doves into the bird display of a natural history museum in Israel, setting up an improbable interaction between live birds in flight and hundreds of taxidermied specimens, stockstill in their glass cases.

Biography

I am interested in creating liminal spaces where fantasy and reality become blurred. In recent years I have stepped beyond the rectangular video format by seamlessly integrating a moving image with found images and objects, subverting their original function and meaning to create new narratives. Pipelines and Sinkholes projects videos of sinkholes on to rusted gasoline cans (2019) and Literature of Storms (2015) animates vintage interior design prints by projections of found movies to create a surreal narrative of an indoor storm. In Trucks and Rocks (2017) ghost like trucks move along the lines naturally imprinted on three found desert sand stones.

This relationship between the domesticated, sheltered and organized world - and the one that is wild and uncontrollable, is something I am fascinated by and appears in my work repeatedly.
