Greg Miller

Greg Miller is an American artist from California. He came of age in the Bay Area of the 1960s and ‘70s, under the influence of beatniks and poets like Wallace Berman, Wally Hedrick and George Herms. His visual style- both joyful, exuberant, and unapologetically about California- was born from that fractured aesthetic and the charisma of decay.

Working with both paint and collage, Miller constructs and deconstructs, exploring the contradiction, ambiguity, and truth between urban streetscapes and history. His imagery is sourced from popular culture and assembled into large-scale, resin-coated paintings. Subjects include women, classic cars, found typography, surfboard silhouettes, blue waters, billboards, spaghetti westerns, comic books, and memes of childhood. His large-scale paintings and installations aim to make the most fleeting parts of American culture tangible. Greg Miller's work...
