François Morellet

François Morellet was a French minimal and conceptual artist. He is known for his contributions to geometrical abtract art as well as his work as a light artist. His abstract art uses the language of lines, square, and triangles in two-dimensional conpositions, while his later work utilized unusual materials such as tape and neon. His work relies on the use of formulas and patterns to determine the outcome of his paintings and sculptures.

Morellet has participated in Documenta, Kassel, Germany (1964) and been the subject of solo shows at the Musée du Louvre, Paris, France (2010); and the Musée d’Orsay, Paris, France (2006).
