The Contemporary Art Stage I: The Essence of the Age
9 internationally acclaimed contemporary artists’ group exhibition, The Contemporary Art Stage I: The Essence of the Age will be held at the The Page Gallery from April 11th to June 12th. This is the first exhibition of the gallery’s trilogy project for the contemporary art, and the artworks of 9 artists from the UK, the United States, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany and China will be featured.
Diverse works of internationally prominent contemporary artists and masters, who have already left their names in the history of art and of Im Heung Soon, whose image and project-based works shed a light on the various issues in the Korean modern history will be introduced all at once. The Contemporary Art Stage I: The Essence of the Age includes 20 painting, media, video and installation artworks of John M Armleder, Urs Fisher, Howard Hodgkin, Im Heung Soon, Richard Prince, Rebecca H. Quaytman, Jason Rhoades, Li Shurui, and Tomas Saraceno.
The respectively unique cultural, social, religious, and political elements of the artworks of 9 artists, who have worked in different countries and environments have become a center point of their artistic representation so that their canvas, installation, and media artworks blur any kind of existing boundary between artists and viewers. One interesting fact of these internationally acclaimed artists is that they have mastered mediums ranging from painting, sculpture, installation, to performance.
This exhibition is deeply rooted in our generation’s constant question “What is contemporary art?” It will be an important opportunity not only to present and experience the artistic aspects of our contemporary landscape.
